WTF Mr. President?

February 4, 2009

I’ve supported you from the beginning of the campaign. Just WTF are you and your people doing nominating not one, not two, but three high level people without checking out their tax liabilities. Or did you check them out and think that we wouldn’t care? A bunch of fucking already rich people who cheat on their taxes and you didn’t check that all out before you selected them? This is CHANGE?

No. This is fucking Washington business as usual. You’re right. You fucked up. We’ve had enough of presidents fucking up. Get better and get better quick. Or you won’t last past 4 years. You made promises. Keep them. Or join the ranks of all the other big talk lying politicians that we’ve gotten used to.

America nears – The End

September 20, 2008

With sadness and relish, I await it.

Vincent Bugliosi rips Bush a new one

July 27, 2008

In case you missed this over at C & L, I think it’s the best thing on YouTube today. Bugliosi is given a platform before the Senate Judiciary Committee to defend his new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. The repubs on the committee got a little more than they bargained for.

Absurdity Within the Catholic Church

July 23, 2008

Three devoted women, who have taken a lifelong vow to become Catholic Priests, were immediately excommunicated by the church. But if you are a MALE priest and you rape a child, no prob. Your status in the church is solemnly and sacredly secure.

There is just no way that I can say it more succinctly than this:

…Sunday in Boston all three were “ordained” in a ceremony run by a pro-women priest organization. The Archdiocese of Boston promptly declared that the women had automatically excommunicated themselves by such action. Their excommunicable sin: yearning to dedicate themselves to the church and faith they love.

Meanwhile, here’s who hasn’t been excommunicated: hundreds of priests and bishops who’ve admitted to or been accused of multiple sexual assaults on children and teenagers. Some resign. Some are defrocked. But many more remain Catholics in good standing or even retain their titles, their pay, their clerical trappings and the support of the church.

“I’m not sure I’ve heard of anybody (in the sex scandal) being excommunicated for raping a child,” said someone who follows these cases nonstop. “But a woman who wants to say Mass?”

Off with her head! Clearly, the priest’s behavior is considered minor compared to these three women who have the gall to want to serve their local people by becoming priests. Here’s an example of who the church believes is more fit to preach to your children than these three women.

Francis E. Bass, a former bishop in the Davenport, Iowa, diocese, was accused of abusing many boys and of sharing them with multiple priests in group sex orgies. He settled a lawsuit with the archdiocese after the statute of limitation ran out for criminal prosecution. The archdiocese, by the way, asked the Vatican to defrock Bass. The Vatican said no, leaving him free to say Mass every day.

The list of perverts that have been protected by the Church seems endless. Just read the article.  Not to mention their complicity during the Holocaust and acceptance of slavery. Their arrogance knows no bounds.

And now, the pope is in Australia of all places, apologizing for the sexual rape and abuse of children by his priests and bishops there! He’s doing a goddamn world apology tour! I know he’s trying to use his papal aura to convince victims not to sue, but I sincerely hope they are not swayed by his insincere mumblings of regret. Go for the money folks, while there’s still some left.

How about a new victim’s slogan. “They got the sucks, NOW we get the bucks.”

Has a nice ring to it. Not bad for a three martini idea.

VA Won’t Help Wounded Vets Register to Vote

May 10, 2008

After agreeing to allow voter registration drives within the VA facilities, the VA has suddenly reversed that position.

“VA’s decision, during wartime, to block voter registration for our hospitalized veterans is shameful, outrageous, and despicable,” said Paul Sullivan, executive director of Veterans for Common Sense. “VCS finds it unconscionable that VA would reverse position and prohibit voter registration efforts for our wounded, injured, ill, and disabled veterans in VA hospitals and nursing homes as more and more casualties flood home from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.”

The VA is citing the Hatch Act which prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activities in the work place. However, as Senators Feinstein and Kerry pointed out, the act does not prohibit voted registration activities.

“Office of Special Counsel has made it clear that federal employees, even those who are considered to be in sensitive positions, may “assist in voter registration drives.”” And they questioned how voter registration drives would disrupt VA activities.

In fact, the VA is prohibiting not only federal employees from assisting the vets with registration, it is blocking non partison groups like the League of Women Voters from lending a hand as well.

Its pretty obvious that, after the VA’s initial agreement, someone in the White House realized that wounded vets might be a lot less likely to vote for another bloodthirsty, warmonger president like McCain. They have no legal basis to stop the registration but that has never been an obstacle to their agenda before. The administration, indeed the Republican party does not want wounded vets, or any vets for that matter, to vote and they will do whatever they can to interfere with the vets rights to do so.

The absurd “furor” over Reverend Wright

May 1, 2008

The only reason there is a “furor” as the press likes to say, is because the Repubs and the press who are so firmly snuggled up in their pockets have created one. And the only credibility Obama has lost in my eyes is due to him feeling that he has to address it as if it is valid.

If Obama is responsible for what Wright says, or anyone else for that matter, doesn’t it follow that the victims of Catholic abuse are also responsible for the actions of their pedophile priests? After all, these priests were once the victim’s “reverends” too.

And what about the rest of us. Are we somehow responsible for the misdeeds and even the misspeaks of our former bosses, colleagues, and pastors? Are children held accountable for the independent actions of thier parents? Are newspaper subscribers responsible for whatever might be printed in the oped? Any sane person would agree that that would be ridiculous.

Is Wright an independent, fully grown adult? Yes. Did Obama tell him what to say or encourage it in any way? No. Does Obama or anyone else have the power to control what Wright says? I doubt it.

Hilary tells a blatant lie trying to show herself to be some kind of macho war mistress, having to run for cover under a barrage of bullets to visit the troops and that actually serious incident has disappeared from the press. But Obama, who is leading the race and is a real threat to the Republican criminal cartel, is still all over the news because of something someone else said that has nothing to do with him.

The only good part of this whole dirty business is that it shows – no, proves how embarrassingly petty the press, the republican party and all the Americans who eat this crap up as if it is gospel really are. The whole rest of the world is laughing their asses off because we are publicizing what all of them have known all along. That with all of our riches and blessings we are still just a petty, racist country and really no better than anyone else.

Saturday Quickies

April 6, 2008

Just have a few minutes right now but a couple of things are worth passing along. First, I just read that Charleton Heston has died at 84. He made over 100 movies in a career that spanned 60 years. I don’t agree with his politics on guns but he surely had that acting thing down pat.

Jonolan has this excellent post up showing all the the members of this administration that hold both US and Isreali citizenship. It is incredible. The implications and possibilities are frightening.

And I just read this horrific account of the rape, sexual abuse and associated cover ups that have become part of the civilian contractor life in Iraq. It is an ongoing and pervasive nightmare. This excerpt concernes a 42 year old female civilian paramedic who woke up to this.

That dawn, naked, covered in blood and feces, bleeding from her anus, she found a US soldier she did not know lying naked in the bed next to her: his gun lay on the floor beside the bed, she could not rouse him and all she could remember of the night before was screaming and screaming as the soldier anally penetrated her while a colleague who worked for defense contractor KBR held her hand–but instead of helping her, as she had hoped, he jammed his penis in her mouth.

KBR immediately tried to shut her up and cover up the whole incident. When she contacted an attorney in the US via email to help her out, her computer was confiscated. Read the whole thing. It’s just unbelievable that we, the public, have to pay the salaries of perverted shitheads like this. Well, I shouldn’t say we. I don’t pay anymore.
