Pedophile Priests Pay the Piper….Again

child_pray.jpgHere we go again. How many times? I’ve lost count.

A Roman Catholic religious order has agreed to pay $50 million to more than 100 Alaska Natives who allege sexual abuse by Jesuit priests, a lawyer for the accusers said Sunday.  And just how old were these Alaskan Natives who caught the priest’s eyes?

The sexual abuse allegations involved 13 or 14 clerics and spanned nearly 30 years, from 1961 to 1987, Roosa said. The children’s ages ranged from 5 years to teenage.

I’m sure those misunderstood priests, those men of God were just trying to keep those little kids warm, right?

The settlement with the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus is the largest one yet against a Catholic religious order, said Anchorage lawyer Ken Roosa, who called it “a great day” for the 110 victims.

“These are people who were altar boys and altar servers and altar girls,” Roosa said. “These are people who tried to tell their story and in many instances were beaten or told to shut up and told, ‘How can you say such things about a man of God?’ “

Men of God my fat, Irish ass. These perverts don’t know the first thing about God or Jesus or faith or loyalty.

The part of this story that we may never have verified is that these priests were actually sent to outlying areas in Alaska by their church superiors because they had histories of child sexual abuse elsewhere.

We’re told to be frightened about terrorists 10,000 miles away while our neighborhood priests are raping and destroying our children in our own backyards.

And most of those millions payed out come from people who think they’re giving money to God. There’s a trickle down effect and it trickles down on a lot of people who don’t realize it.

Absolutely. The church has to maintain an aggressive donation campaign not to help the poor and needy but to pay the legal costs for their perverted priests (and nuns). Of course they have also had to undoubtedly pay off people along the way who found out about this disgusting behavior. You have to hand it to the church. They have been very successful at keeping secret this obviously pervasive problem and doing so for decades. There is no doublt that church officials all the way up, including the pope, have known this nasty little secret all this time. Surely others have as well and I’m sure the church has lined their pockets to keep their mouths shut.

I am so disgusted by this type of news. I would never, ever leave one of my children or grandchildren alone with a priest, minister, etc. That’s really sad to think about that. My husband and I were youth group leaders and Sunday school teachers for years, and in some cases we became surrogate parents for those kids who came from dysfunctional families. The kids felt safe with us. More importantly, they trusted us.

Where can kids turn today? The churches are a mess and our schools aren’t any better. Teachers are on the same level as these priests. And our political leaders are really a bunch of moral degenerates too. Some role models for future generations, eh?

Catholics continue to deny this problem and defend the church. I have seen it in comments and on other sites. So Catholic parents will continue to allow their children to spend time with priests and the abuse will continue. It will be even more secretive because of the press coverage but it won’t go away.

Where kids can turn is their parents. It’s time that parents stop using others as surrogates and spend more time raising their children themselves. Or at least using the extended family like many cultures do. The changes in the US that spawned Day Care and After School Care were not changes for the better but for the worse.
