It’s Getting Crazy Out There. (getting?)

It really is a world gone mad. 14 year olds shooting up their school. Nooses hanging at US universities. Genocide is only genocide if its your enemies. If it’s your buddies its just unfortunate deaths. Especially if you need them to store your mass murder machines. I can’t keep up with it!

Maybe I should report on pink roses or cute kittens instead. Now THAT I could keep up with. But it wouldn’t be so much fun.

I wonder if the noose as a symbol hasn’t been promoted from obscurity and if school shootings haven’t been suggested to ten thousand demented teenagers by the constant, unremitting, day and night coverage on news channel after news channel.

Everyone used to put up Halloween decorations that included hanging straw men and ghosts made out of white sheets with eye holes. Now all of a sudden they’ve become shibboleths.

Yep, it sure is getting crazy.

There’s no doubt that these kinds of activities will attract national and even international attention thru the press and every kid and adult that watches TV knows it. The Halloween decorations still exist. Today the problem is, the kids can’t go trick or treating for fear of being mugged, kidnapped, raped, killed, drugged or poisoned. Welcome to the 21st century US. (actually that started in the 20th)

The perception is that it’s more dangerous, but I’m not convinced.
