US Expanding Military Bases In Guam

Residents are terrified by the implications

Bases in Guam are not reliant on support from Japan or Korea. Perhaps more important, the US military is not restricted by the rules and laws of a foreign power in Guam.

Al Jezeera is reporting that residents, including indigenous natives, are terrified that this will attract terrorists to their small island.

It’s also unsettling that the US press has barely mentioned this. Other than a good Chicago Tribune story here, I couldn’t find a story by the US press on it.

Sounds like the inhabitants are not only worried about terrorism (and rightly so), but about the increasing loss of land on their tiny island to the expanding military.
