American Terrors

A terrorist is anyone, anywhere who causes you to feel terror.

I’ve said this before and it goes right along with other recent posts here and elsewhere concerning the use of fear as a way to keep Americans cowering in the corner instead of demanding that we get the hell out of Iraq now.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t be concerned, very concerned about fanatic Islamics who hate America. We should be. But there is something else to be much more concerned about. Something else that deserves your fear.

The fanatic Islamics are not here every day murdering, torturing and terrorizing us. But other Americans are.

Compare these numbers for the period 2003 – now.

Number of Americans killed in Iraq = 3,495

Number of Americans wounded in Iraq = 25,242

Number killed and injured on 9/11 = 3,226

Still with me? Ok. For the period 2003 – 2006.

Number of murders in the US = 66,110

Number of rapes in the US = 378,061

Number of Assaults in the US = 3,426,264

And this violence does not come in spurts or cycles like wars do. This violence is consistent, always with us. Always threatening us and our children. I suggest that our resources would be better spent protecting us from these very real terrorists right here at home.

Your figures really help put the issue into perspective. It would be nice if the media would point this out more often. On the other hand, Americans need to start using their brains and thinking for themselves. In city after city across the country, hardly a day goes by when we don’t hear about crime in our communities. Multiple those reports by 365 days and that should be telling us that we have terror problem right here in our own backyards.

Yup, thats the point. And while our “representatives” in Washington (the assholes don’t represent me, I wonder who they really do represent) just approved another 120 billion for the war that nobody wants, federal funds to support local and state law enforcement have been cut. Its no surprise. The mega industrial companies make huge profits off of the war and the blood of our soldiers. They don’t worry about local law enforcement and they don’t need it for security. They buy their own.
