In his speech tomorrow, Bush will be calling on young men to volunteer in mass for the “surge” needed to win victory in Iraq. He figures 30,000 for about 18 months will do nicely. What that really means is 50-100,000 for the next 5 years. Nothing he has said or done concerning Iraq has been true yet and there is no reason to trust a single thing that this man thinks, says or does now.

You can bet that none of the young members of the Bush families will be among those who heed this call. Their parents, like Governor Jeb (who has three kids in the proper age group) wouldn’t allow that in a million years.

Bush and his family are very willing to put your family’s children in harms way, however. No problemo. Tomorrow night he is going to tell you how badly he needs them and how patriotic it will be for you to send them.

There is not one bit of evidence that he gives one good goddamn about the lives that are being ruined by this war or the other catastrophes of his misadministration (read Katrina response).
He is desperately making a last grasp for some kind of honorable legacy, not realizing that he has already destroyed any chance of that. I implore America to give this man and the other war hawks in congress a loud resounding HELL NO WE WON’T GO. It finally worked in my war and it can work again in yours.

I agree with your assessment that there is not one bit of evidence Bush cares about the lives being ruined by his war. He is too self-obsessed about his image, legacy and the game of politics.

If you believe in what Bush is doing in Iraq. …….BY ALL MEANS GO!
