Our Cowardly Vice President

I know this is old news, but it continues to bother me so I have to say something about it.

Dick Cheney, under less than normal circumstances, received a total of 5 draft deferments during the Vietnam war. The first four were student deferments. The last was a deferment for married men with a child (his wife apparently conceived 3 days after the deferments for married men without a child were eliminated).

Before he became Defense Secretary, he was asked about these deferments and responded that he had “other priorities during that time than military service.”

HUH? Like, that’s a good enough reason? There were nearly 657,000 draftees sent to Vietnam. I bet a lot of them had other priorities during that time, too. There were 17,539 married American men killed in Vietnam. I can’t be sure but I have a feeling that they had other priorities during that time as well. But they went. You didn’t.

No, Dick, it wasn’t other priorities. You were afraid to go fight for your country, afraid that you couldn’t take it, afraid that you didn’t have what it took. Well, you are right about that. You didn’t and you don’t now. Maybe that is why you are such a scowling asshole, because you know that you don’t really measure up like those men did. I would love to watch you, face to face, tell a Vietnam combat vet, any combat vet, that you got 5 draft deferments because you had “other priorities at that time than military service.” But you would never do that, never risk it. And we all know why.

I recently read that Dick announced that he has no intentions of running for president in 2008. DOUBLE HUH? I have news for you Dicky, after your miserable, inept vice presidency, even your own party would never be crazy enough to nominate you.
The arrogance of this guy just amazes me. Ok,  got it off my chest.

And I would hope that no American would be crazy enough to vote for him.

Amazing how a man who got a total of 5 draft deferments during the Vietnam war could still make Defense Secretary. America’s defense would be in dipshit if everyone could get as many deferments as he did ;p
